Welcome Laura Bates!

18 January 2023

Laura Bates has joined Kallaway from the Museum of London, where she was Head of Press and Communications for six years.

She brings a wealth of expertise to Kallaway and focuses on leading culture,  entertainment and destination based campaigns.

Will Kallaway, Managing Director, Kallaway said:  “Laura has made such a positive impact since she joined, we are very thrilled to have on the team. Laura is a culture and destination communications expert with first hand knowledge of how world-class cultural organisations operate. She is adept at running integrated campaigns that enable brands to clearly establish themselves, engage their public and motivate them into action.”

At the Museum of London Laura led the communications campaigns for all major activity including exhibitions, partnerships with commercial sponsors and other arts organisations. She shaped and delivered the museum's PR strategy for Culture Mile - the CIty’s destination marketing for the Barbican area - and led the communications for the capital fundraising for the Museum’s new £300m site at West Smithfield that will create a new cultural district for the City.

Laura is also adept at dealing with issues and crisis management. As the Museum’s lead on issues and crisis management she addressed sensitive topics such as the handling and display of human remains, object repatriation and on site protests.

Laura is a vocal advocate for helping under-represented audiences to experience and work in culture and the arts. At the Museum of London Laura co-founded and chaired the Museum’s LGBTQ+ staff network, which advised the Museum on its policy and practice to support LGBTQ+ staff and visitors, and she acted as part of the Senior Diversity forum. Outside of her career, Laura is a secondary school Governor with a particular responsibility for the school’s inclusion policy.
