Many books have been written about London. So when Pan Macmillan asked us to launch Ben Judah’s new book ‘This is London: Life and Death in the World City’ our challenge was to not only secure cut through in the media for Judah’s work but do so in manner that drives sales.
We achieved this by taking Judah and his book from the review pages to the news and opinion pages by linking the issues in the book to events taking place in the capital at the time. Topics such as immigration to rates of pay and quality of life were explored in the context of This is London and carried across the national and lifestyle press. Coverage ranged from GQ, The FT and The Economist, Spectator to Judah appearing on BBC Newsnight, SKY News and The BBC World Service.
Our campaign helped propel This is London into the top 20 bestselling, hardback nonfiction titles - number eight in Foyles bestseller list and the number one bestseller in Travel and Holiday on Amazon.
In addition, our campaign saw Judah hailed as the being a modern day George Orwell.
